Re: Lifted Van Pics...

Sorry, I have been in Colorado for a few weeks with no online. I actually only have two lifted Astro/Safari vans at present. The list just helps me keep track of the ones i have owned. I'll try to post pictures of each one as i get the chance.

Re: Lifted Van Pics...

Wish I could see the look on peoples' faces when you go code! :muhaha: When I ran code in the white one ('96 2wd with 8" lift) people always moved over right away. Something about having wig-wag headlights blasting in your rear window, I guess. Funny thing was even when i wasn't running code p...

Re: Lifted Van Pics...

Looks Great. Thats the way the AWD should have come from GM. Or at least a ZR-2 version of it. =D> BTW- I use to correspond with a few guys that worked at the Astro/Safari plant around the turn of the century. They actually were interested in such a concept for these vans. I think it would have done...

Re: Before and After

I think redrilling the stock hangers "back and down" is the way to go, effective and cost only a bit of time. The 2 big advantages of the HiPo hangers is the ability to adjust height to fine tune the rear while keeping the axle back .75" and that they provide 4 more subframe mounting...

Re: 31s and stock alum wheels...

http://audioconnectionfla.com/images/assets/chrisvan2.jpg I have BFG A/T KO 31/10.5/15 tires on mine with a 4" Overland lift... neccessary.. I like the look of that front bumper. What model was that you used and what changes did you need to make to it? I am planning on building one but if i co...

Re: 31s and stock alum wheels...

Firevan, how does this mod affect the shocks, brake lines, etc? Not at all. Such a mild relocation that it isn't even noticed. Rear axle is only .75" back with either the redrilling method or the OV HiPo hangers. It is only .5" lower with the redrill and up to an inch or so with the OV on...

Re: Before and After

I just replaced the dark "after" picture in the first post with one from today. Here are a couple more pics. It's getting there. http://www.astrosafari.com/gallery/main.php?g2_view=core.DownloadItem&g2_itemId=1697&g2_serialNumber=1 http://www.astrosafari.com/gallery/main.php?g2_vie...

Re: 31s and stock alum wheels...

Even with only a 2" OLV lift and 30 BFGs, I had to trim around the front wheel well quite a bit. The end result is no one can even tell I was there. It looks great and it looks stock. My problem is I have no room on the back tires for chains, too close to the front of the wheel well. I'd love ...

Re: Before and After

Nice build you have going, more pics when ou get them please. In the area of drive shaft length and pinion angle... I dealt with these issues when I lowered my '63 Falcon 3-4", but when I lifted my '98 Astro 2", I did not. The length did not seem affected and although I bought 2° pinion s...

Re: Before and After

Looks great Steve! With that much lift in the rear, did you have to lengthen the rear drive shaft? What about adjusting the pinion angle? I had the rear set up another 1" with the adjustable hanger and that created a not-so-good looking pinion angle. The height it is now the angle looks to be ...

Before and After

Before and After shots of lift and tires. Not finished yet but a big change already. I did a 3" body lift Tried a 2" first) in front + 3" torsion lift. In back I used 2" shackles + 4" springs + adjustable front hanger. Wheels are 15x8 Bajas (4" BS) with 31x10.50 Mickey ...

Re: Not so Newbie

Here is a dark shot of with the Mickeys on it. I'll have to get one during the day. I still have some things to do to it including removing the 3m tape but it is starting to look better. I did a 3" body lift in front + 3" torsion lift. In back I used 2" shackles + 4" springs + ad...
