Re: Engine missing at low RPM. misfire?

The problem that we have in Montreal about the GM dealers, it's that since they went on chapter 11, they closed most of their dealerships. There's a Canadian Tire every mile here, but the there's probably less than 3 or 4 GM dealers on the island. The Canadian tire store was more closer to me..but a...

Re: Engine missing at low RPM. misfire?

Ok.. Problem fixed, but I'm not sure if I want to tell you what happened. We got a pretty bad snow storm here, because I don't have a garage, I didn,t wanted to fix that outside, so I left the van to a Canadian Tire repair shop. They have all the parts and tool. So I asked them a direct order to rep...

Re: Engine missing at low RPM. misfire?

Oki, I finaly got the code! \:D/ I called a friend who bought a code reader, we plugged it on his laptop computer, and got the code P0134, wich is the O2 sensor system, no signal on Sensor 1 bank 1. On the OBD2 program, the symptoms looks like pretty similar to me! -Misfire, engine running poorly, b...

Re: Engine missing at low RPM. misfire?

The EGR makes lot of sens! For the code reading, unfortunatly, we don't have any Advance Part Zone in Canada. Yesterday I went for a short little ride with the van, just to make sure that the brake discs won't rust. Good news! I finaly got the engine check light on! So that will help to get a code. ...

Re: Engine missing at low RPM. misfire?

Ok, you are right! I will bring it to the dealer and if I can get a trouble code. However, everything that I replaced are parts that I had to replace anyway on a good tune-up, so it's no big deal. I saw the engine light flashing for less than a minute, but not anymore... I will come back to you guys...

Re: Engine missing at low RPM. misfire?

I replaced the cam position sensor, for the crankshaft sensor, is it accessible or it's another pain in the ass to remove? About the catalist converter, is there a way to see if it's the cause? It really sound like a missfire, I don't feel any loose of power and on highway, it runs perfectly. If it ...

Re: Engine missing at low RPM. misfire?

Hi, sorry for the late reply, I was out. It's a 97 4.3l.. I already replaced the cam position sensor, that's the part under the rotor that looks like a pick up coil on our lawnmower... But it doesn't change anything. For the distributor, I don't feel any play in the rotor, weird... I didn't check fo...

Engine missing at low RPM. misfire?

Hi! Again, more weird problems.. last time I posted a question, it was my steering box + PS pump, then brakes ect... I don't know if I will see the end of that.. This time, I have some ignition or fuel problem. During the holidays, I drove down to Florida. Nothing to say, I did the trip from Montrea...

Re: Replaced steering box + PS pump = no hydroboost ??

Problem fixed! It was finaly the brake system itself. I had two lines leaking, I replaced them, then to bleed it, I broke the bleed screws, so I had to change the calipers. I finaly got everything working perfectly. It has been a chain reaction I guess.. I lost the gearbox, then that damaged the pum...

Re: Replaced steering box + PS pump = no hydroboost ??

Thanks for the info!
I bleed the system with the wheels off the ground, but with the engine running, this time I will tried with the engine off.
Actualy, the truck on the stands and I found two brake lines corroded and leaking. I will fix that before, it doesn't help...

Re: Replaced steering box + PS pump = no hydroboost ??

As far as I can remember, I did everything as it was originaly. It was a pain to get room to work on that, but I think everything was fine, it doesn't leak. The steering works perfectly now too. I don't see any problem on the steering side, it's only with the hydroboost. How can I bleed it more than...

Re: Replaced steering box + PS pump = no hydroboost ??

Hi again! Thanks for the help! It's a '97 SLX 2WD.. I installed a salvaged gearbox, but a brand new pump. I also replaced the two lines that goes to the gearbox, because they were rusted and leaking after the installation of the gearbox. You have to understand that it's a northern truck and...

Replaced steering box + PS pump = no hydroboost ??

Hi folks, I'm new to this forum. I bought my Safari last year because I needed a good van to drive down to Florida from Montreal with a Vespa scooter in the back, during my Xmas vacations. My safari has been very reliable...but about two weeks ago, the steering box went bad. It was jamming and the s...
