Re: bucking when cold

No harm doing a mass air flow sensor cleaning & it is simple to do & costs nothing. Since you are asking for ideas, another suggestion is a slightly restricted fuel filter or fuel pressure dropping to the threshold of meeting the minimum required amount. A cold (not warm) engine requires mor...

Re: OBD II code PO420

Since this is the only code that you mention that you getting, you will need to replace the cat converter - converter catalyst is degraded & ineffective. The system will only run the cat converter efficiency monitor test (P0420) if all the O2 & other sensors are working good. For example: if...

Re: P0300 code has emptied my checking account. Help!

@ v8famvan I always thought that on the newer engines the distributor's only job was to deliver the spark to the correct cylinder, and that the computer used the camshaft position sensor and hall effect sensor to deliver the proper timing. So what is actually happening when the distributor is out o...

Re: P0300 code has emptied my checking account. Help!

Al, I am not exactly sure what information your Android Torque app scanner is giving you but the key piece of data that I would be looking at is some thing called the 'CMP Retard' parameter. The correct spec for this is 0 degrees +/- 2 degrees. This parameter is not adjustable from the factory, howe...

Re: Coolant leak - Drivers side, top corner of intake / head

That looks about normal for that vehicle. Small puddles of oil in there is what happens. Nothing there looks alarming to me & I have done plenty of them.

Re: Radiator, parts and the water pump from H**l

Are you sure it is from the water pump gasket area? Sounds very much like an intake gasket is leaking down the front of the engine..... :-k

A common cause of an intermittent no start is a coil wire that is shorting to ground. This is usually worse in damp weather...

Re: New fan clutch installed, way too loud.

I have run into this issue before other customers. What I suspect is that an aftermarket economy version of the clutch fan was installed, not an OEM. This was likely due to the fact that it was probably less than 1/2 the cost of the OEM one. The saying goes that you get what you pay for & it is ...

http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p123/NotDadsW41/webSite/install3.jpg So where is this fusible link that I should be looking for here? I supposed it's painfully obvious of course... Yup, that connector with the 4 wires coming out of it is the fuseable link assembly. If you look at those gray wire...

Project at work....not a Astrosafari

I did an interesting install recently - a supercharger on a 2011 Camaro. The owner of the Camaro is not so different from many of us, he likes his vehicle & shares his story with those who share a common interest with him. Like many of us, he chose to post his experience with members of his comm...
