Re: Less becomes more.

Hey Arlon, thank you for sharing the build. I am thinking the same with my van. Easy conversion from regular van to camping and back. I doubt I'll be spending more than a few days in the van at a time, so no need for permanent camper mods, sleeping platforms, fridges, heaters, etc. I am curious - wh...

Re: On the hunt for a Unicorn (2005 AWD astro/safari )

The only differences between the 1999 - 2002 and 2003 - 2005 vans is that the 03 - 05 vans have rear disc brakes, 6 lug axles, 16" wheels and they seem to have either stiffer or more arched rear leaf springs. Other than that they are identical. I personally prefer the 02 and older with the rea...

Re: How to wire up a NP 236 in place of a 136.

Bravo!!! :bounce: Thank you so much for taking the time to chronicle the swap. Also thanks for being the guinea pig on the NV236/246!! Question: Did you run into any issues with the Class 2 serial bus? From past research, I believe the TCCM communicates with the PCM via the bus, and does checks like...

Re: Do our vans have a "heavy" side?

Hey Herbie. Don't know anything about the weights but you can take it to a "public scale".. lots of junk yards, transfer stations, recyclers have em.. Look up "public scale" and your county and you should be able to find one not too far.. Last time I used one was at the local tra...

Re: Starting my build

Hey there. A long time ago, I've researched the replacement of a 136 with a 236. I've found that the cases are almost exactly identical and can bolt up without modifying. Just like how the 233, I believe the 236 can bolt right in without any modification of drive shafts or cross members. However I f...

Re: Leakng brake fluid from Master Cylinder/Prop Valve?

Have you checked power steering fluid? It's also golden brown.. Have you looked into the hydroboost unit? A few weeks ago I had a leak in the same area. The drips show up right under the steering box on the driveway. It turned out my hydroboost was leaking from an internal seal and fluid was coming ...

Re: NP233 electric shift to manual shift swap

Hey Lifted, curious if the 233 has the shimmy on snowy conditions like the 231. In the other thread discussing the issue, TLow believes that his setup doesn't have the shimmy because of the 233. Can you post on your experiences?

Re: 2nd gen BW4472 to NP233

Hey all, thanks for the replies. I've been following both of your build threads and they have been inspiring. Lots of custom work on photo_van's hybrid system and very resourceful use of rachet straps on thegreenmachine's build. I'd love to be part of the 4x4 club one day. It never occurred to me gr...

No assist at low speeds

Hey there guys, looking for some help with an issue that I'm been stumped with since buying the van. I don't have power steering assist at very low speeds (less than 5mph), especially when turning while braking. Parallel parking the van is an extreme chore. However, when the van is rolling, the assi...

2nd gen BW4472 to NP233

Hey there guys. I'm hoping to gather up enough information to feel comfortable about doing this swap in the future. I have a 1996 AWD and have cheap access to a 233 from a 97 blazer. So here's my question: has anyone done this on the 2nd gen vans with the 4472? I've seen the stickied threads on the ...
