Questions before starting Trans Cooler Install
I have a couple of questions before starting my trans cooler install.
1) What and how do I remove the stuff in front of the rad to gain access to mount the cooler?
2) Which line from the trans should I splice into to run to the cooler (upper or lower)?
3) Any other gottchas I should know about?

Yup. Good response. Sadly the cooler I purchased does not fit (wrong measurements on the website I ordered it from). I am considering mounting it elsewhere with an electric fan or two since it is 20" long. Any thoughts?

Re: Questions before starting Trans Cooler Install
I used an AC evaporator for a trans cooler. There's no way it would fit in front of the radiator. I put it under the van on the opposite side as the gas tank. I mounted it at 45 degrees to the front. I have no previous records as to the temps but I'm assuming it must work as I have touched it after a drive and it is very hot to the touch. No fan to cool it. Just lots of air flowing under the van.

That is an interesting idea. I'm not sure how well it would work, but the prices I have been finding on fans makes me think I should e-bay or kijiji the one I have and find a tru-cool. I found a place in the metro Detroit area selling the 4490 for 59.99 but they don't ship to Canada and use UPS which would add $40 in brokerage fees if they did. Still thinking options.

I ordered mine from OPT (Oregon Performance Transmission) to Canada - I dont remember about `customs and all that but I got a good product and was happy with it. Installed easy - just like the write ups on the site - maybe go ebay hunting and take a look!

Re: Questions before starting Trans Cooler Install
Thanks, I got mine from HERE for $69.99. Shipped to a friend in NY and he will bring it up at the end of May when he comes up this way camping. A little longer wait, but I will survive.LaGrasta wrote:http://www.bulkpart.com/Merchant2/merch ... de=coolers

Just fit the hugest trans cooler made for a 30ft motorhome in front of the a/c condensor and you won`t need a fan.

Re: Questions before starting Trans Cooler Install
The cooler has arrived at my State side friend's place, I have my gauge and piller pod, and since I an due for a filter change the trans filter change kit with the new filter and pan gasket. Hopefully the rain will stop and I will have some time to get the temp gauge and filter change done next week, although I might be able to do it Friday if the weather forecast is correct and the showers scatter somewhere else.
