Hi,
Installed drive shafts and VSS speed sensor.
Tomorrow splice in hose for t case vent . 5/16" hose.

Still need to get a micro switch to install near shifter in 4 Lo.

Hi,

Today, install vent hose.
Look for micro switch at Frys Electronics to mount underneath by shift lever.

Hi,

Got shifter boot $18 from JEGS in Ohio, it is Jeep 1977 style.
I like the extra flat section of rubber which I can secure to floor or seat pedestal to keep the boot in place.

Hi,

Thank you for invite to social media. I have avoided Facebook, etc. I know it is convenient but I don't like big data company tracking me.

Got the vent line connected to t case and wrapped the cable shifter near exhaust with some very good heat tape from Pep Boys.''

Purchase a nice Philmore brand heavy duty micro switch from Frys.

Hi,

Here is photo of the HD micro switch mounted with 6-32 machine screw and nylon lock nuts to a 3"X 7" bent Simpson Strong Tie.

Hi,

Micro switch installed to be activated when 4 Lo selected. The new larger 4 mm aluminum skid plate for the t case should protect the micro switch. I did coated terminals with clear silicone seal.

Hi,
Mostly freeway miles. But, I hope to do more dirt and sand with the low range t case.
Also,
Installing skid plates for tranny and engine oil pan.
Found a easy way to install 44" cross bars to the sub frame.
Uni strut 4 hole Clevis fittings and Uni strut U channel clamps , and some grade 8 hex bolts.
The neat trick to snug the fittings into the 3" round OEM hole is to use impact wrench to spin the nut since can't get a wrench on the head of bolt, just the flat screw driver.
Used Uni strut fittings which fit perfectly in the OEM 3" access hole in sub frame.

Using 1 1/4" X 1 1/4". Steel box tubing 1/8" wall for cross bars. One bar fits at forward side of the 4L60 E tranny, the other bar fits by engine oil pan.

Will use 4 mm aluminum skid plates.

Hi,
Connected the 4 LO sense signal jumper pigtail and female socket to PCU green J2 pin 16 as shown in the excellent photos and write up from this site.
This weekend I hope to try 4 LO and confirm that it allows shifting thru all 4 gears when in 4 LO range.

Hi,

Yippee! The 4 LO sense signal works! I found a bit of a dirt road and tested it today. The transmission shifted from first to second, then I ran out of dirt. But it was a great thing to know the PCU green j2-16 signal getting GND from micro switch when 4 LO is selected.

Now for some real dirt trails.
